"A Joyful Noise" is the fourth story that is featured in the eighth episode of Season 2.

Plot[]

Sister Louise Pittman conducts a choir that practices at St. Mordecai Baptist Church every Thursday at 7:00pm. The choir consists of Lawrence, Calvin, James, and Shelly. One Thursday, every one is late for choir practice for different reasons; Lawrence's car suffered engine trouble, Calvin and James (who carpool) got two flat tires, Shelly's clock stopped, and Sister Louise was forced to take a detour to the church due to a sinkhole appearing on her usual route. When everyone finally arrives at the church, they are told that there was a gas leak that caused it to explode, and that if any of them had gotten there just a few minutes earlier, they probably would have been killed. Everyone coincidentally being late, for the first time in ten years, saved their lives, something which Sister Louise attributes to God.

Cast[]

  • Roz Ryan as Sister Louise Pittman

Trivia[]

This story is based on an incident at West Side Baptist Church in Beatrice, Nebraska, which was also featured on Unsolved Mysteries. On March 1, 1950, the church exploded from a gas leak at 7:25 PM. Choir practice normally started at 7:20 PM, but all fifteen choir members were late for various reasons and so no one was harmed.
