"Dead Friday" is the third story that is featured in the fourth episode of Season 2.

Plot[]

Jody Griffith and her boyfriend, Marcus Watkins, have set up a blind date between Jody's roommate, Miranda, and Marcus's friend, Keith Porter. The quartet plan on going to a nightclub called Madame Q before returning to Jody and Miranda's place to watch a rented horror film called Dead Friday, in celebration of it being Friday the 13th. Jody places the film in her and Miranda's VCR, and then goes to the door to let in Marcus and Keith. As Jody introduces her to Keith, Miranda is distracted by the television; instead of showing Dead Friday, it is showing distorted and disturbing clips of a train, and of her, Jody, Marcus and Keith. The television just looks like it is turned off to Jody, Marcus and Keith, who assume that Miranda is acting up to get out of going on a date with Keith.

Miranda refuses to leave, convinced that something terrible will happen if she does, and begs everyone else to stay, which Jody reluctantly agrees to do; this annoys Marcus, who leaves with Keith. Jody is angry at Miranda, but while watching a newscast a few hours later, she is shocked when a reporter mentions that Marcus and Keith were killed when their car stalled at a railroad crossing, where they were hit by a train. Jody alerts Miranda to the newscast, and together the two inspect their rented copy of Dead Friday, which turns out to just be an empty VHS shell without even any tape in it.

Trivia[]

The episodes beginning is reminiscent of the 1996 horror/comedy film "Scream" with Jody holding a wireless phone and dressed in the same outfit as Drew Barrymore's Casey Becker. The story's connection to rented horror films on VHS also links it to Scream and it's rules of horror movies by the character Randy who works on a video rental store.
